« on: 06 June 2005, 15:03 »
after my 18th bday iv got a bit of money, so toying with getting a mk1 cab, iv seen a 1.6 GLi is this a simular engine to a mk1 1.6 gti's engine? anyway i'll post up wot is said about it, i phoned up the guy and he says there is hardly any history, and the gear linkage problem means it only sellects R, 1, 3, and 5,

see what you think he says that someones offered 450 but he wants 500-600

cheers guys

As you can see from the pictures this car has had a clipper kit fitted and has been fully smoothed into the body and sprayed in metallic black.  It has had all the welding done and the engine is in a good smooth working condition.  Mechanically it needs front shock absorbers, (supplied with purchase).

For the MOT it also needs a gear linkage & two new tyres.

It will also be supplied with a set of four more BBS multi-spoke alloys, (2 wide, 2 standard).

The hood is in good condition (no leaks), and the interior is standard upholstery.

Please note the vehicle is pick up only via trailer (no MOT or Tax) and is declaired SORN.

So is the only thing wrong with it the gearliinkage then ? I can't see that being mega bucks and deffo fixable, you could always just give a local garage a call and ask them how much it would be to get an idea of cost. If that's all there is then it's a bargain and looks tidy in the pics but there could be other stuff wrong with it I guess. The GLi was the older version before the GTI cabby came out by the way, I think Richard Ellison's cabby is a GLi.
