Spray paint for Alloys

Got a week off next week so im planning on refurbing my alloys, i've got everything required apart from the vital paint and lacquer.

Im not after anything fancy, so happy to paint it the "Normal" alloy colour, however which one is the best.  I know im only going to get a certain standard of finish by spraying at home, however no one seems to say what brand etc they've used, how much you need etc etc.

No fancy spray guns or anything so all going to be done by aerosol.

Any advise appreciated  :smiley:

I think there are photos on this forum from people that have used it, and you can google search as well to see photos of results.  :cool:

From what i can see thats a pretty good deal!  im guna go for it... pics to follow end of next week  :cool:

However are 2 cans of each really going to do 3 coats on each wheel...?  Anyone used these before?

To be honest I'd prefer a 3rd can of the silver especially if the wheels are multispoke etc, alloys with larger flat areas with less paint wasted you'd be ok, I just noticed as well the seller on ebay has put the price up £3 since I posted the link  :sad: So yea its not cheap but you've got a very good chance if you do prep work properly of having a great finish with colour match to go with it  :cool:

Autoglym; not seen that before if its a OEM look silver then it could be a good buy, tempting to try at that price.  :cool:

EDIT: Yea that seller has bumped the postage up considerably also, wasn't it £6 for delivery before?

Yeh your right! Still a good buy (if you want wurth).

Im going to look into the autoglym stuff, missus will flash if i spent over £60 on paint

Let us know how you get on with it mate, if its better than the Halfords wheel silver then its a very good buy at that price  :cool:

The oldman can get autoglym @ £2.40 a tin!!! 450ml! They also do a lacquer and primer so im guna stick with autoglym all the way. Ill let you know hoe it goes!! :smiley:

i used cheap simoniz stuff for my old wheels worked great,its all in the prep,i did 2 coats primer,3 colour and 3 laquer and a littler tip if your painting in a cold garage have a little tub of warm water to sit the tins in to keep it at room temp get a better spray
