Recall on 2.0 litre diesel Golfs - Injection Pipe
« on: 29 April 2012, 18:12 »
I received a recall notice from VW yesterday re: my previous (10 reg) GTD regarding the Diesel Injection Pipe. This car was involved in an accident and scrapped.  However, I bought a new GTD (61 reg) early this year and wondered if it was also compromised.  I phoned my local garage who didn't seem to know much about it but said they didn't think my new car was involved in the recall.

Does anyone know anything more about this.

Thanks

The VOSA website list safety recalls. This one appears to affect cars built as recently as December 2011

I posted this in the diesel section the other day.
My recall specifically states year 2010 tdi golfs.
I wouldn't panic... yet!

This is actually an old recall that came out 12 months ago you see many forums have talked about it. On the VW site you could type in you VIN number to see you your car was under the recall but they have removed this option now. http://owners.vw.com/vww/vw_service/recalls.html when you click on it it just shows the service site. I typed in my VIN and it wasn't effected.

If you Google this there is a site that shows the range for VIN numbers that are effected http://www.nca.ie/index.jsp?p=103&n=127&a=791 but my VIN is in this range WVWZZZ1KZAW267666.

So what month was your GTD registered in 2010 danski?

Mine was registered 27th Jan 2010.

As I said this injector pipe problem first showed itself last May so are you saying its taken VW 12 months to find everyone thats bought one and send them a letter?

As I said I typed in my VIN in the VW site and it wasn't effected.

Hi Kieth,

Mine was registered toward the end of Feb, cant remember the exact date though.
Reading this post the other day was the first I heard about it, and then got the letter just yesterday, so yeah, looks like they have been very gradual over sending out the recalls, maybe they didnt want to create a crazy rush for the part they will be replacing...?

Well I've just checked the VOSA Recall Database and it listed 15/12/2011. In the Canadian Road Safety Recalls Database its 2011/10/03.

But I read the report last May.
