Whats the best induction kit?
« on: 05 June 2005, 17:37 »
Hi guys. I have a 90' Mk2 GTi 8v and i am desperate for a good induction sound. My mate has a 2 litre fiat tipo "sedicivalvolve" and he has a cone on there that gives him a great roar when he is on full throttle, and i really want that sound! Haha. So, any suggestions?

digi arent fans of induction kits they play up alot with them installed everyone here will tell you that a high flow filter to replace the standard one the removal of the funnel at the front of the air box some even drill holes in the side near the wing away from the engine to stop hot air getting in there will add a little smoothness to the engine and make its sound great :D

if you take out the whole of the air box assembly, you will see in the inner wing a little plastic flap, i took out the funnel on mine, but not drilled, but drill on the plastic where there is no struts as your only weaken the housing, hope you will understand what i'm saying.... and just drill on the side by the inner wing

only drill on the bottom half, in fact i cut a hole, the little ribs don't strenghten it amazingly but i made sure i kept the rib that goes across from side to side.

Cheers for that info guys, its much appreciated. I binned the funnel and noticed a definite change in sound on full throttle. I was so chuffed that i wanted to drill those holes in the side of the airbox but couldnt find my dads drill! Doh! So i just removed the entire bottom half of the air box and made a bracket out of some thin steel to secure the top half, and made sure i had fully secured the filter to the top half of the air box. Oh mate! I tells thee, the roar is superb! Ha ha!! Its only a temporary fixture so the bottom half of the air box will be back in once ive got it all drilled out. Gotta love cheap mods! Once again guys, thanks for your wealth of knowledge!

if you want a great induction noise you need a 16v, otherwise its just a loud drone you get

any 16v motor will sound on song when at full tilt
