power steering dodgyness :/

on my way home from work my belt snapped lost power steering ect garage replaced it all was well apart from the lack of power steering its got it slightly but i still feel like im driving my 80s escort at times had pumps replaced obviously new belt its had new fluids, anyone know why it would be doing this?

I take it you mean the garage replaced the belt and the pump?  Its likely the belt snapped because the old pump siezed, as modern belts dont usually just snap,  if the pump failed internally its possible swarf or little bits of broken pump has got into the system causing a blockage, anything from a total block to a restriction.  I would get it back to the garage as if you ask me, they havnt fixed the problem.  Is there any effect from the P/S ?  Or is it totally innop?

yh garage changed them both strangely its the second belt the cars had in a year... its not completely gone theres still assistance just a very minimal amount it was fine when i bought it but has just got like it in last 3 months, i took it to garage left it there for a day and even they couldnt work out what was wrong with it, mind you its same with my brakes had them re bled new pads new disks 2 days later the pedal goes spongey and u have to stamp on brakes to stop

could be worth bleeding the system (turn full lock left and the right with the cap off... do this a few times and top the level as needed)

Air could cause this but i would expect it to be notchey and rough and a noisey pump if there is air in it, worth s go though,  i would say there is either a blockage, dodgy return valve or problems with the rack. Almost certainly cause by the pump failure though
