Do you have fsh with vw stamps if so then wudnt you want to keep the value of your car to the max? If you ever come to sell it the prospective buyer(s) will look for this when choosing a car and if yours is missing some but has others then the buyer(s) are gonna think "huh why hasnt this seller not kept up with the history" remember first impressions are everything!!
Just take this into consideration!

Do people really care about this anymore ?  Surely as long as the car has been regularly serviced then that's all that matters.  And surely the money you save will even out any cash you would (potentially!) lose when selling.  That said my book is full of VW dealer stamps so guess Im just as guilty as everyone else 

Yep, I know it's daft but in my experience peeps do look for FVWSH when purchasing a car, but of course it's your own choice...only you can make that call

It didn't have a full VW service history when I bought it and I'm one of those who couldn't care less where it was serviced as long as it's serviced on time and the receipts are there to prove what was done.

In my limited experience (and this only involves part-ex trade-ins) the question has always been has it got a full service history, they haven't cared if it was full dealer or not and it didn't increase their offer on trade-in. If private buyers care then they won't buy my car when I sell it, that's their choice but I really don't think it's an issue nowadays.

I never even look at cars without full main dealer service history.
There are some terrible little back street garages around (as well as some very good ones - but how do you know if one of the rubbish ones serviced your prospective car).

You might save £100 on a car that's depreciating at £3,000 per year.

Well yeah but if you read back through the thread at no point did I ask for opinions on servicing etc. all I wanted was what was required as part of the service, others hijacked it for their own purposes.
