same for tyres isnt it? mot wise you have to have so much of the tread? but by police any baldness and its 3 points ?

Legally and MOT wise its 1.6mm of tread any less and its a failure by MOT center, with police its 3points and fine per wheel. If the MOT center is allowing bald tires he should be shot.

There was an interesting article in an Australian car magazine. As I believe there's is either the same or similar of 1.6mm, but they was saying by law 3.0mm would be safer and should be changed, they did road tests between 1.6 and 3.0mm tread and the difference was huge in the wet and aquaplaning situations. Now imagine how much at risk you are with bald tires in wet conditions... hence why 1.6mm is the lowest they like to see.

Yeah tread wise it's 1.6mm in the centre 75% so ur edges could be bald but if the centre isn't its a p/a as far as the police is concerned I think they say what they want !!!!
