ok so curruntly own a 2.0 gti mk3, but in the next few months ill be finnishing of funds to get a mk4 1.8T, but, from what i understand about small and big ports, and that the agu engine cant be used with a ko4 easily, i also remember one of the engine codes prone to sludge.

so which is the best year to go for? looking up to 2001 years as cant stretch that far to newer currently,

my plan on this would be to lower a little full turbo back exhaust and depending on alloys change them, then later on change for a k04. but i want to make the right purchase now rather then finding i have a engine that ill struggle to upgrade. im not looking for crazy power but the 250/270 mark is ok for me as its fwd, any more would be a waste imo.

so if any one can help me. and also suggest the right spec, would prefer aircon and leather etc but may have to settle for a lower spec and put leather in as budget isnt unlimited,

thanks

Who me?

Well iv got a AGU which has a large bore head. = more flow.

I went down the ko4 rout, it's not a direct bolt on as such

Ko4 manifold turbo oil and water lines. Down pipe decat , tip, larger injectors, big fmic, 2.5" intercoller pipe work,

Tbh I chased the power! And now it would be stupid to throw ££££ at it as I loose most in 1-2 gears as it is now

I advise getting a agu, and bolt on a ko3s which is a direct replacement , fmic tip and injectors and a decent custom map ( r-tech )

Agu has bigger heads but no VVT, AUM smaller heads plus VVT.

Id go ko4-001 ebay version with agu, send it to r tech for map and turbo tweaking.

Maybe in future get meth injection.

If you want cheap quick power, t3/4 ebay turbo with manifolds to suite, some minor work required but 350bhp.
