Can anyone think of a waterproof grease/oil?

My car hates the rain, whenever I go over fairly big standing water it'll start spluttering from water going into the distributor and coil. Can anyone think of a solution? I've thought about possibly putting a very fine bead of silicone or instant gasket where the distributor cap meets the distributor, to stop water going into the cap. For the coil though I have thought of using vaseline to seal it, but I can see this coming off fairly soon. Can anyone think of an oil/grease that would seal the coil?

WD40 comes off far too easy and it's not a long term solution.

bog standard grease is plenty waterproof.

the classic soultion is a rubber glove over the dizzy.    better to swap out the duff bits tho really

Coil was bought brand new just over a year ago, cap and rotor is about 14 months old, could do with a renew really.

I would use a silicone spray,  just make sure its super dry before you do else it will seal the water in

Yeah definitely  Silicone spray sounds good though, will try it out

Just read up that dielectric grease on the rubber boots of the leads works well too.

I think I'm going to go for that + sealing the distributor with a fine gasket of silicone and then use this to spray over the complete ignition system specifically the coil.

Yea that damp start is a plastic based spray very much like silicone spray, works very well, have used it in the past, Reapply every 6 months or so, but a can will lasts a few years, so its a cheap fix if it does the job.

Have bought and sprayed around. We will see how it goes. This will work well on my kart in wet races too, as everything is exposed.

You can get waterproof grease (honest) we use it in work for machines working in the sea or water.
