Did a search but couldn't find anything..

One of the 2 small red lights shining down from the overhead console on to the gear lever area has stopped working. Pic attached.

Has anyone ever changed one of these bulbs before and if so what was involved? I removed the overhead console to try to remove the bulb and take it up to my local VW parts place to get a replacement but the 2 bulbs in question appear to be soldered directly on to a circuit board/PCB type thing and don't look like they can be changed very easily.

Any info would be appreciated.

I would have thought its led, so probably soldering. If it is led then its warrenty surely? Oh and they are called submarine lights.

Just take it to the dealer, it'll be covered by the warranty.

Hey Max,
Long time no hear... You may remember we clubbed together to buy the R32 rear lights a few years ago?!

So you're in a MK6 now? Me too.... GTD though. Sorry, can't help you with your actual question

Although oddly, I think your console buttons look different to mine ??!

Thanks for the replies folks. I thought they might be a bit easier to replace but obviously not! I can live with it for a while but will get it sorted at the dealer before my warranty is up. Cheers.

@Joe - Yep, remember it well! Good to hear from you. PM sent.

I haven't received any PM!

Now that I remember, in an Audi A3 I used to have, it had little red LEDs in the door handles that sometimes inexplicably stopped working. A good main-dealer-style  thump to the door card and they'd work again. Loose connection rather than failed bulbs I assume.

I'm a slow typer! Check 'em again.

Might try a 'technical tap' and see it that fixes it.
