normal 16v idle?

i have been speking to a bloke on abay about a car i may be interested in. he says it idles abit low.
i asked how low and he said it idles at 0.8 rpm. he says he is not sure if this is normal as he dont really no much about mk3s and he is comparing it to his passat. is that normal idle for a 16v?

dont matter now anyway he just told me there is rot under the rear wheel arch trim.
why is it when ever i have no cash there is loads of decent mk3s but when im looking for one theres hardly any

The passat should idle at just under 800rpm too... one of em must have a problem
