Chip Soldering

Hi guys, I need my ecu socketing on my tdi, the old chips desoldering and sockets putting in their place to allow for the new chips. Does anybody know where or who can do this for me?

Get a specialist to do it, i would not go DIY.

easy with the right soldering iron and attachment,only thing is the soldering iron and attachment cost a lot more then someone else doing it

get someome whos done it before to do it for you pal

Let a specialist do it. A few years ago I gave the ECU to my electronics teacher who himself is a car enthusiast and he had offered to solder the new chip in for me. He gave me the ECU the next day saying he stopped before he got any further because he said it's a very difficult job, and said there are loads of copper tracks running under the chip so he was going to eventually ruin it. I then passed the ECU on to Danny_p who is an electronic wizard and he ended up ruining the ECU as it's just too sensitive to use a soldering iron to chip it.

I'd go to a specialist, who has the right equipment and the right knowledge.

I got my father in law to do it on my old vr6. In his last job he access to special tools, i wouldn't try it with a normal soldering iron.

My old vr6 was a 1994, and the chip was soldered on the board.
