catch can.

Hi again as some of you know I have just done a conversion on my golf from a 1.6 8v to a 1.8t with a few problems, I took my breather pipe off and it was filled with loads of gunk so I stripped all the pcv pipe work and it was a mess there was a split pipe and when a blew down the valve there was loads of black rubbery deposits and then it blocked so iam guessing this has been causing a problem of some sort, I have used the search function but to no avail, I basically wanted to know where I can get a catch can. How long will it take to get it? How much it would be and what size ports I should have*? I know its a lot to ask but any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks again mike.

You need a catch can with 19mm fittings ideally.
You will need 19mm oil resistant hose and a t peice.

Awesome sell a nice catch can. 42 draft make them. I believe they're about £83 delivered.
The hose you can get from eBay.

Theres a guide on here how to fit it somewhere.

Just search catch can.

So I take it the eBay ones are no good? The inlet looks small? Any one got one for sale?

ebay ones are fine if you can get 19mm fittings made for it like i did  :smiley:

I have an ebay one on my conversion and its fine, you will need the following

Catch can
2 meters approx 19mm ID oil resistant pipe
19mm OD T piece

and if using the ebay can with 16mm inlets you also need

1 meter 16mm ID oil resistant pipe (1 meter will probably be as short as you can get it you only need enough to go from the inlets to the reducer piece)
2 16mm to 19mm OD reducer pieces

ebay can here ,only used 1 reducer from 19-16mm and 1 t piece ,wrapped some tape round 1 16mm outlet and used 19mm pipe from rocker to t piece and 19mm from t piece to can and 19mm from bottom of t piece to breather,other 16mm outlet i used about .5 mtr of 16mm pipe joined to reducer then 19mm up to puck

Personally I feel that a eBay catch can or a expensive can would do the same thing. How is it better to have bigger ports? Does it breathe better?
