My new smoothed and de-wipered Tailgate attempt

So my old tailgate was rotten, so picked up a spare from scrappy and decided to have a bash at painting it. Paintshop prices around here are huuuuge so thought for couple quid id give it a bash 

Had a bash at painting it, reasonably happy with it for first time ish at painting and bodywork

Slightly differant shade, but putting that down to my paint fading slightly and colour match being slightly off 

My tailgate 

New plate welded into scrappy tailgate, im not great at welding, 3rd time doing it 

Filled and primed



Painted with 2 tims of clear

And then on the car



Still needs afew finnishing touches, Eg. filler on window 

Spoiler or keep it off?

Its a non GTI tailgate, so will have to tigerseal it on

Thats really good man. i need to do my wiper as iv just plug it but down the line id like to smooth it and smooth my front bumper..

may i ask what you used to smooth it with? Do you have to sand down the hole area where the wiper blade was?

I just used p38 bodyfiller easy sand stuff. Bit bumpy in places, but cant see it unless you look for it.

Well........ I filled and primed it at work, because thats messy as.....

But i painted it inside yeah 

Gotta clean the floor now, sacrifice i was willing to make thou
