Top nut should be a nylon thread and bottom is narrower with a flange, this is important so it sits on the top mount correctly, but any bolt with nylon or a bit of lock tight instead would be fine for the top one.   An air gun will wizz it straight off if you know any one with one.

To be honest it was pretty straight forward apart from that top nut which took a bit of persuasion, only issue now is that the abs light is staying on but i suspect this is because i've disturbed the wiring on the hubs...

Pretty common problem.....I had this for a bit. I kept wiping the fault code which cleared the light but five minutes later the light would come on again. In the end it sorted itself out and the light went out. I did however reach around the wheel to check the connector was in properly (not an easy job for me as the car sits about an inch of the ground !!!!!).

Yeah, i'll see how it goes this week and have a look at the connectors if it doesn't go out, i had to use the widow maker jack to lift the front enough to get my trolley jack out so i would imagine you have some fun and games with yours and thanks again for the shocks, i'm trying to get my mk3 looking half decent on a budget and they have helped a lot.
