Carpet Cleaning Options??
« on: 21 April 2012, 11:30 »
Hello everyone. Just wanting some kinda advice if anybody can recommend a decent method on cleaning car carpet? What options are there on getting rid of the old musty smell and how it bring the carpet back up to some sort of former glory?

Iv been looking at car steam cleaners but im also wanting to get rid of the nasty smell which carpets can produce over the years. Currently im just lacing the whole car with Febreze after a good hover but as you would guess the smell just comes back after a week or so.

Cheers for any input.

is this in your mk4?

you could remove the seats and shampoo with a wet vac

or if you want to go one stage further you can remove the seats, then the carpet and then shampoo and jetwash and hang on the line to dry

The above is obviously the best course of action if its the carpets that are the problem. In my experience though its usually the sound deadening that causes the real smells due to previous damp problems. You will obviously need to remove this and properly dry it out, or replace it tbh as it falls apart usually.

Just done my interior recently with a wet vac. Rug doctor from B&Q, you can also get them from Morrisons. Think Morrisons near me have an offer on at the moment £24.99 for 24hrs hire and 1 litre of cleaning fluid which will be more than enough for a car interior. Mine came up pretty good removed the salt stains from the drivers seat which were there when I bought it.

Can also clean your house carpets at the same time.

Wouldn't be fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?
