£15 petrol gone in 4 miles :-/
« on: 19 April 2012, 15:45 »
guys need your help. topped my tank up today £30 so just over half a tank. then as i was pulling in to a friends drive i scraped the bottom of my car.. (believe in the middle under the car a metal plate of some sort) going over the exhaust pipe.

drove to town fine petrol still half. come dropped him home petrol seem ok. as i got home i realised the petrol was only on the first white line
I looked under the car revved the engine while my gf looked around the car see no sign of a leak. no smoke not even a smell of petrol....  :undecided:

could it be the fuel gauge is stuck?

its the very worst thing about these cars is how inaccurate the gauges are ...i could put a tenner in but have half a tank going down a hill and none going up and who knows how much inbetween.. i need a 'miles til empty meter'!

thats not to say u havent done any damage mind

LOL@ the advert at the bottom of this page.. red diesel supplied in barrels nationwide

The Mk3's I had had innacurate gauges, in the 1.8 it was saying empty for a week lol, after I fitted silver dials in that car it worked as it should and showed about 1/4 more than the original cluster

My money is on the sender being faulty.

@Shelagh, the adverts are cookie dependant. In other words they will show adverts relating to your internet history....so I guess someone in your household has been searching for red diesel
