Going back to 4X4 suspension..

Well i mean i'll have to put up with 4X4 style wheel arch gaps with the factory suspension..
Basically i've had a couple of aftermarket setups but the ride is still too harsh, on Koni Sport Adjustables with Eibach springs at the moment, yes it's great on a smooth road when pushing it..anything less is just irritating.
So i think back to the stock setup, unless anyone knows a spring type a bit less harsh that will go with the Koni's ?  it's the springs that are the problem i think.

I'm in the process of fitting koni adjustables and eibach sportline springs but not driven it yet, hope it's not too harsh.

I had boge turbo shocks and standard springs on previously and to be honest I found that quite firm.

Which eibachs have you got, sportline (red) or pro kit (black)? If you've got the sportline you could give the prokit a try as they are meant to be softer.

Presumably you have got the Koni's adjusted to their softest setting.

Hi.. yes i've got the Pro Kit springs and the Koni's on their softest settings..
You'll find them to be fine i'm sure, i'm more into comfort these days, it's my age no doubt!
Also had the Boge Turbo's with the Eibachs and that was harder for sure.

The Koni/Eibach setups works pretty well really and the harder you push the car the better the whole thing works, a sacrifice only of a bit of a bumpety ride on B roads and the like.. though does depend on your preference and standpoint in such things, suspension being a well worn subject on here (sorry guys)

I'm looking for a near perfect ride which i know i'm not going to get, it's just me.. i want the comfort more than any remarkable performance gains.

Finished fitting them tonight and went for a short ride taking in some bumpy roads and to be honest the ride didn't seem anymore harsh than my boge turbo shocks and standard springs. Looks a hell of a lot better tho now.

one of the issues with lowering any car is the loss of comfort due to the reduction in shock travel. unfortunately it's a compromise either way, comfort or performance unless you're paying mega bucks I'm afraid.
maybe your particular preference in ride might be found in using different shocks? I was also led to believe that Eibach springs were on the softer side of the spectrum of lowering kits, hence I fitted them to my own car.
mine is still quite firm with Weitec GT shortened struts and reckon its the struts that have really tightened it up. When I fitted them I compressed them by hand and they hardly moved whereas the standard shocks could be pushed and pulled to their fullest in either direction with ease.
I want to fit Bilsteins when funds permit as I know these are supposed to work very well with Eibach springs.

The Eibach Pro Kit springs are only a 30mm drop so i imagined there wouldn't be a drastic loss of damping range, still.. i went with them through all the positive feedback on here, deservedly so i'm sure.
After fitting them and getting use to the more rigid road ride i did read a comment from some knowledgable chap on here about those Eibach springs are a bit hard etc, words to that effect and that's just what i seem to have also found personally.

The handling on a smooth road is excellent but over bumps and rough surfaces there's no damping as such, the whole vehicle bounces up and down momentarily and feels unsettled.. if you have a feeling for how mechanics work you can just tell it's a result of springs that are ungiving and too tightly coiled for any real absorbtion, in this case anyway..

Just my findings and preferences i guess.
