I just remind myself that no matter how much tax i see deducted from my pay at the end of the week, that it could be alot worse, we are lucky in this country, people moan and groan about having less disposable cash and not being able to claim child benefit even though their earning double the national average. DH is right, no matter what, people will always find something to moan about, we just need to keep reminding ourselves that we are all blessed with the good fortune to live in the UK and if anything we need to do more to help others who are in desperate need.

I don't have an issue with paying taxes...I spent a lot of my early child hood being bought up on tax payers money...

The only issue I have is the way Tax payers money is waisted...I hate waist in any form,

The worse benefit case I can think of off the top of my head is Jobs Seekers Allowance...fine if you have have bill to pay etc etc, but what bills do 18 year old kids that still live at home and can't be arsed to get of there back side and find a job...this I don't like

Let's just be clear here.

I don't have an issue with paying taxes...I spent a lot of my early child hood being bought up on tax payers money...

No idea about your childhood, but that's great that you were looked after.

The worse benefit case I can think of off the top of my head is Jobs Seekers Allowance...fine if you have have bill to pay etc etc, but what bills do 18 year old kids that still live at home and can't be arsed to get of there back side and find a job...this I don't like

But it's not OK for those who genuinely can't find a job to have support, although it was OK for UK plc to pay to bring you up?

I really don't think there are that many people out there who 'can't be bothered'.  Those few who can't be bothered tend to be highlighted, sensationalised and vilified, but they are small in number.  The 'life' there is for those who can't/won't/don't work isn't much of a life and I don't envy them, but it's important there is a safety net for those who are less fortunate, because one person's deserving is another's waster - support for low paid/no jobs has to be available in some way and not cost a fortune to administrate.

Who deserves to be homeless?

There will always be contentious stuff around the edge of benefits, but it is generally a small portion of the total bill, so what looks like hitting of the nail on the head is actually far more like hitting yourself on the thumb with the hammer and missing the nail entirely, although it's the bit that gets all the tabloid coverage.  This is why Steve30 has responded well to your point, because it's sensationalist boll0cks and he responds well to that.

For reference 'waist' is on your trousers.  Personally I have no issue with waist, but waste is something of a different matter.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
