Replecement Fuel Lines MKII 8v k-Jet Question

Hi Folks,

After buring through my plastic fuel line and setting the car on fire I need to replace them. OE ones are expensive and take ages to arrive.

Now I've not looked at how the connections work either end but can I just run two lengths of stainless braided line and jubilee clips on either end?

Shouldn't be a problem. Pressure isn't high enough to cause a worry.

Go Ghetto and use some garden hose and jubilee clips.

I thought the fuel lines ran pretty damn high pressure? If you go to a hydraulic speacialist they will cut them to length and put the correct connectors on them. 


Edit: I would definitely get them properly made, they run at the same psi as 16v apparently which is around 90psi. I thought I had properly tightened up all my connections when replacing my head and it was jizzing fuel from 3 different places, two of which been because of not tightening jubilee clips on my extra injector rail. When they were tightened enough I felt they were about to strip themselves

Sam is spot on, they need to be high pressure and the proper fittings, anything else is plain crazy.

Cheers guys, like I said I hadn't had a proper look at them yet. Looks like I better find out the part numbers and get them ordered from VW as they seem to be main dealer only.

NO! A Hydraulic specialist will be half the price of the stealer for a braided hose, even cheaper for standard fuel lines with propper connectors. Just take your old lines in and see what they can sort. Your nearest hydraulic hose specialist will be very close to your nearest industrial estate.

Just one word of warning, some hydraulic hose companies will not make fuel lines due to HSE regs.

Plenty to think about then. I need to get the old ones off and have a look at them. As I have ruined them I was thinking of running braided lines inside the car.

Ya, the company I went to refused to sell my oil return pipe as an oil return pipe even though it was able to take 1billion psi of boiling hydraulic fluid for a good few years with no issue   The link I put up seem to have most bases covered so probs worth a ring about fuel lines. If you are really really stuck, buy some generic high pressure fuel line and simply get them to put the propper bits on the end
