In the fuel tank, there is an access hole in the right hand side of the boot with 3 screws holding the cover in place

cheers apie

ive brought the new lifter pump (smaller than i thought) ok so ive had real trouble trying to unscrew
the pump however its stuck tight...... do you have any tips on removing? ive tried a thin bit of wood and
hammer and tried tapping it but no joy. (dont want to damage it)

i know this sounds stupid but would heating it up with a hair dryer work? obvouisly not a heat gun.
theres no way of getting wd40 in there either.

also is the lifter part under where i'm trying to get to? sorry for all the question but i need to get this right.

Have you got the lift pump and fuel sender out of the tank or is this before that? Mine was tight but could just about undo it by hand

can you get an oil wrench on it, maybe the type with the chain? its a plastic lid on a plastic tank so it should come loose easily enough.

Ok so I've removed the lifter pump today and found out the units not working its self. So I'm stuck now. I've tried vw for a new one and they don't do them anymore also gsf and other places. Does anyone know what the part number is so I can do a more detailed search. One golf owner not going anywhere at the moment :-/
