finally passed its mot
« on: 01 June 2005, 22:16 »
well after a £189.89 of work including mot the cab finally passed! needed a brake overhaul well you think i would be chuffed but the advice they gave me on the failure sheet was o/s steering rack boot twisted their slight play in the n/s/f top suspension mount thats ok as i am getting a new coilover set next month n/s/r rear bearing will need replacing but not rnough to fail their is slight travel on the handbreak no biggy chip in slight windscreen but thats been in their the past two years! sliht leak from rear exhaust joint and yes the usual petrol pipes getting rusty! so all in all a lot of work will be carried out over the summer and most myself so which me luck! i think i hould of put this in the chat nonsense section so if any mod wants to move it feel free!

nah, it's about a mk1 so it can stay.   It's nice when they pass their MOT and good luck with the repairs that you are doing. There's always something though, I had mine fully serviced yesterday and they found a worn steering ball joint that needed to be replaced and I needed new pads as well, not been given the bill yet so dont know how much. Considering it just cost me the price of the MOT to get it through in February I guess I'll be out of pocket again.
......now officially dubless.

all lowered.looking spot on. :smiley:it's quite a comfortable ride as well.well worth the coin.£135 inc p&p and £50 to fit.the garage had bit of a problem getting the back shocks off as they were original and been on there so long.

Good man.  Yeah rides not too bad really and mines even better since I ditched the 185/55 tyres for 195/50s, they really made a difference too.  £50 fitted is a bargain by the way, it cost me £80 and I thought I got mine done cheap, I guess I didn't.  :undecided:

i got bridgestone e300 195/50 on mine but the tread looks sh!te so i'm gonna change them for toya proxies on pay day :rolleyes:the garage i use are vw speicialists and they are good.i have spent a great deal of coin with them over the years and got to know them quite well.favour for a favour sort of thing. :smiley:they have just serviced the cab and replaced the rocker cover gasket for £30 which is not bad.. i'm looking at making the long trip up to leed on the 26th so i could be asking a favour off you!!
