Where is it on my 16v. The car is crap from cold start and idle so I am going to give it the once over at the weekend.

im really new to this car mechanic lark- how do u put in a bucket and keep it running?

i think what he means is just leave it in a bucket of petrol.i cleaned mine out with thinners and alcohol.you can use carb cleaner as well.

I mean put it in a container of petrol with it plugged in and buzzing :)  This isn't strictly necessary though, but gives it a proper cleanout.  If you just chuck it in a container leaving it to sit for a while & shake it about now and again it should do the trick.

You shouldn't use carb cleaner though as its abrasive and can damage the ISV internally, petrol, white spirit etc does the job just fine.

What do you recommend, vodka or whisky or did you have some other alcohol in mind, seems a terrible waste! :smiley:
