PingIt
« on: 12 April 2012, 08:45 »
PingIt has just become available for non Barclays customers to make and receive payments up to £300 instantly just using their smartphone and someones mobile number

From a small business point of view this is really useful as it saves multiple trips to the bank to pay in cash and cheques (yes, people still pay me by cheque?!), and it also saves crippling charges from Merchant Accounts for taking credit and debit card payments.

I was just wondering what proportion of peeps are likely to use this? I'm kinda hoping that it will become the norm and that people will expect to pay for services by some kind of electronic transfer.

Thoughts.

Have not heard about this previously.. but would be very interested. As said merchant charges are a rip off. I received a notice from our mechant services telling us that commission had changed on some cards from 0.1% to 2.5%!!!

...and there is nothing you can do about it either!

I'll see how popular it gets before signing up myself.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

if it becomes the norm, i would expect merchant type fees to creep in, nothing stays free for long in this country.
