Timing settings mk3 gti 2.0 8v

Hi guys, does anyone know the timing settings on a agg engine, my so called machanic has got a timing light and was unable to do timing after having a new dizzy fitted as car wouldn't rev over 5000rpm it really can't be that far out as one day it's fine the other it won't rev over the 5000rpm, any helpers......

This should help with setting the timing correct if the dizzy has been removed and your getting 5k rev limit !!

Thanks for that, however that all seems to be fine and lined up ok, can it be timed up with a timing light sorry to sound a bit thick but engine side of things isnt my best,

AGG should be statically timed - i.e. when the engine is off.  Dynamic timing (with light) not required.

Would get a better mechanic personally.  Hope he is not charging you when you give him the information.....
