I'm in two minds about Mintex and Pagid discs!
« on: 11 April 2012, 23:01 »
I've been quoted about £90 for mintex 280mm 22mm vented G60 brake discs and just been whoring the Eurocarparts web site and they have Pagid ones going for £53 odd thats a hell of a difference with the easter promo code!
So whats the steel like on pagid's? Mintex are good never used Pagid's
Normally I would just buy EBC groved but funds are not great!
Pads I will buy Mintex for sure!
whats the opinions on the choices of both?

Personally on 280mm rotors I wouldn't bother with grooved discs - they'll just munch your pads faster.

Buy the Pagid discs and Mintex pads.  Odds on they'll be just fine.

Only thing I'd want to do is see the two alongside each other , to make sure the Pagid discs have open vents at the centre of the bell - some don't which might well reduce your braking efficiency.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Just rang up ECP and the discs are vented at the hat DH.
To be fair the chap was a good lad he is doing two brake hoses, two Pagid discs and two sets of Pagid brake pads for £69.39 the easter promo code totalled £84.00 I can't complain as the cheapest Mintex discs came in at £68 on flee bay which could be fakes for all I know from fleebay?

Yes not a fan unless its secondhand parts with pictures!

Well I arrived at my local ECP everything waiting there for me left with just TWO brake hoses which are good quality pagid ones £10.00 for the pair.
The sad fact DH was right the description on the sytem was vented hat, but when they were opened they were non hat vented. The chap rang head office and they said the vents are just for getting rid of water recess, I know better it does aid cooling, so left my number for him to ring around who can supply decent ones with vents!
I was tempted to just get them at £16.00 each fantasic price, but I like what I like?

Yours will be 239mm just measure it to make sure diameter that is!
Thats why we love 16vers its a bolt on upgrade from 256mm to 280mm the 8vers will need a hub upgrade or a MK3 VR hub that can take 280mm or if you dare 313mm with different carriers

256mm if I remember. But depends on wheels aswell some have larger PCD's that can take a larger caliper but retain smaller wheel size.
