HELP??????
« on: 10 April 2012, 20:36 »
Hi can anybody on here please advise me on the removal of my heater Matrix on my Golf MK4?I had a leaky radiator so like a plebb i put some radiator cement in the header tank, then the next day i noticed my heater was blowing cold,so it has obviously blocked the veins in the matrix,so if anyone on here knows a good product to dissolve the cement or as above advice on the removal of the matrix? Thanks

Dash out job  http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/p/254098/1658586.aspx#1658586

Maybe you have a thermostat issue

Seems strange for it to clog the matrix?

As Rich said could just be a thermostat problem? Check that first rather than taking the full dash out

I thought that, but yesterday i checked the feed and return hoses for the heater and the feed was hot,but return was only luke warm,my temp gauge didnt go above 90o however i went on a 20 mile journey tonight the temp shot up to 130o on the way back, so i pulled over eased the header tank cap off and all i could hear was the heater hoses gurgling and a lot of pressure was in the tank, there is no oil in the water or water in the oil,so im just hoping it will be the stat, i will have to remove it tomorrow

If it had clogged the matrix it wouldn't effect the engines water temp I wouldn't have thought? And if its hot one side of the stat and only warm the other then it isn't circulating properly.
