painting inlet manifold and rocker cover

Hi Guys

Im toying with doing something with my mk2 16v inlet manifold and rocker cover.I ws thinking of polishing it but i have little to no patience whatsoever lol.

My other thought was to paint them,I am fairly good with a rattle can but have no idea on what paint to buy/use regards to heat etc.

Also what am i best to clean them with before i do anything

you can use high-heat temp paint what they use on manifolds and exhausts you can get it in a few different colours... :wink: :smiley:

Just a good degreaser, or stick em in the the dishwasher when the missus isn't looking!  :grin:

I used crackle (hammered) black hammerite on mine, and just some mars red body paint for the lettering on mine. Its all you really need tbh.

You can use pretty much any paint on it as there is not much heat in the rocker cover or inlet manifold. I recently done them on my 2.0 8v mk3. Both were primered using an etching primer, the inlet was sprayed using smoothrite silver and the rocker cover was done a vw silver (can't remeber which one) then laquered over.

You could go the other route, and have them soda blasted, that'll bring the parts back to looking OE fresh, then apply a couple of light coats of Matt Lacquer to protect...
