Quick sensor question

I have a mk2 16v gti and i was looking at it today and noticed that there are 3 small sensors and 1 large at the gerbox end of the cylinder head.

Can someone please tell me what these are for so that i know for future reference/faults etc

Thanks in advance

3 small ones are all water temp sensors. Good for swapping round if you suspect a duff one as they're all exactly the same. Larger one is oil temp sensor.

The larger brown one is the thermotime switch for the c.s.i. The oil temp sensor is round the back, it looks the same as coolant ones, except it has a white collar not black. It has a black/green wire to it
