no heater

had a hose go on my 16v last night,i have replaced hose and topped back up with coolant but have no heaters? is this a airlock somewhere or some other reason? cheers

Would have thought an air lock is a good bet. Did you run the engine with the expansion tank cap off for a few minutes while topping up and massaging the pipes to expel all air?

yeah,gave them a good squeeze.its a bit better just luke warm?

Do that again but with the heaters on full wack again.

Id start with the engine cold and the cap off and when the coolant starts evaporating put the cap back on topping up as required.

Done my VR6 too many times now

Make sure you blead it with the heater on full, keep gently squeezing the pipes, with the coolant cap off, run it,  cycle between idle and 2500 rpm, top up as required, ensure the heaters are on hot and running, when it blows hot, and no more air comes out, its done.

Another handy tip is to raise the front of the car as high as possible on stands or a ramp, unscrew the coolant bottle, and move it forwards as far as possible, helps get the air out.
