5 door 8v GTI rear door

Is it possible to change the plastic/metal strip that runs down between the 2 panes of glass on the rear door of a 5 door GTI?
If so how do you remove it or is it a case of a complete replacement of the window unit?

You should be able to, from memory I think you take the door card off, then take the window and regulator out, then you should be able to unscrew/unclip it.  Have a mate ready to catch the quaterlight though as it'll most likely try to leap for freedom
