Switched live

Want to put a flashing led in the car as a dummy alarm but can not find switched live off the key
If any one can help

As its just an LED,  if you want an ignition live, and reasonably easy access,  you can tap into the back of the stereo, i wouldnt normally say this but as its an LED it wont do any harm at all. 

Otherwise, you can probe the chunky wires in the back of the fuse box, i cant remember which one but one or more of those is switched live, easy to get too, just drop the box down off the clips.

Use the live from the stereo as stated above, its easier than messing about with the fuse box.

Use a wire splicer though

I did exactly this on a mates mk3...Spliced from back of stereo and wire pulled through dash...As long as it's all properly insulated it'll be fine

Can not find the switched live on radio had it out and all a got is a live with the key in and out

Orange is live and red is switched i think,   its the opposite to most makes.

Behind the ignition switch is a wire that goes live when the key is removed but i can`t remember what colour it is. I`d say this is what you will need for a dummy alarm LED not one that`s live when the key is in the barrel

chuck it on the end of a 9v battery? obviously dont have the battery on show

Sorted now getting a proper alarm with central locking starting to get a bit miffed at putting the lie in the door al the time to oped dam car lol
