Mk1/ Early mk2 steering column re-assembly
« on: 04 April 2012, 19:20 »
Hi Guys,
Can anyone advise me in which order the two piece steering column components re-assembles please. eg contact ring washer ect..
I have a problem with the steering wheel contact ring touching the combination swithes and the horn sounding when the ignition is switched on.
the haynes manual is useless, maybe I have put something in wrong???? thanks in advance.

have you checked the bottom screw head on the 3 stalk ones isn't shorting when you put the wheel on? or is it the actual horn pad within the steering wheel?

There is no clearance between the switches or horn contact ring and they are earthing together. I have renewed most of the parts and it still touches???

I'm not really up to speed on early MK2's... I know I had issues with my Early one before I got rid...
