anyone know anything about this lol
i have done some searches etc but just want some decisive answers... reason i need help is the wife as got an a3 1.9tdi sport on a 51plate,had the overboost code on vag com so had turbo cleaned with innotec turbo cleaner ,1 week later back to limp mode but then went and came back several times...i have noticed there is a lot of oil around the egr valve and could probably do with a clean just wondering if i need vagcom when i put it back on or does it sort itself out is there a gasket that could break or will it be ok to just take off and clean, want to try and eliminate easy cheap fixes before changing n75 etc so any help greatly appreciated thanks in adavance also is this a pd engine its the 110 sport atd engine code i think cheers ppl just like to point out that there was no play etc in turbo upon inspection cheers guys

You don't need VAGCOM

I think there is a gasket or at least a rubber o-ring? Can't remember off the top of my head

How often do you hit limp mode and is it always under the same conditions? i.e. same gear etc

No need for vagcom.

You say you are hitting limp mode due to OVERBOOST? Defo try and borrow a known serviceable N75 and possible MAF and MAP sensor.

If you have vagcom you should do some logs in the gear you are getting the limp mode problem...Log blocks 003/008/011 to see what is going on with your pressures etc.

cheers guys @rhyso its hit and miss with it limp mode could come twice today and then nothing for months  dont know if you can remember when you done logs on it last time im sure it was 3rd gear and remember i showed you the oil around egr im thinking that could be a possible cause as when i took charge pipe off it was thick with crap tbh i cant be arsed with it as its the wifes car lol  curiosity is getting the better of me

@scarr im sure me and rhyso done some logs and the overboost was putting it into limp mode in 3rd gear mate... i didnt know these had a map sensor will have to have a look at it to cheers mate

TBH I don't know either, I'm just making generic statements!  :lipsrsealed:

Oil round the EGR though...Could you clean out the manifold and give the EGR a clean/de carbonify it?...if it doesn't cure the problem it will surely help the car function!

My 110 was hitting limp mode constantly and pointed to the overboost problem. I cleaned my EGR - which was also oily in the rubber pipe off of it. Not sure if that's what's cured it but hasn't gone into limp mode since, so probably worth doing?

what you need to do, as i can guarantee it the vains still sticking. is try and get round the back of the turbo and remove the actuator arm from the vain shaft, and then try and move it by hand. is should move very easily and with no resistance. the innotec worked for mine for about two days but really it will never fix it permanently, so defo recomend removal of the turbo and and strip it and clean or instead of all that crap just replace with a new unit. my car is ten times nicer to drive now the new unit is on. no more limp mode. the usual code will be "charge pressure control" positive deviation.
