lol.... just had new turbo from dealers so not going to do any more modifications to the engine ...want my money's worth out of it ...lol ....im very happy with performance now ...well only had one days worth of it as got to drive it carefully till kit arrives...prob 1 to 2 weeks

Right.. had another look at car today ...put it in 4th and rocked the car ...there is about 3-4 inches of movement in the clutch before flywheel moves !!! lol ...was told that there should only be upto 15mm ...also the dual mass is only good for 300 foot pounds torque and mine is 322 ...ow well .

order the kit off darkside today ...£1062 delivered (vat was not on website as its for overseas ordering or something like that so no vat )!!! costing me a fortune this month !! lol

Standard clutch/ flywheel is up for stage 1 power without issues

The reason they slip is the cover plate loses clamping force from the spring deterioration. The window for this is around 80-110k.  I have remapped car in the dyno and introduced another 20lbft going upto around 270lbft an clutches have slipped straight away.


IMO the is no torque limit on the DMF, its just wear tear and abuse which kills them. I have seen 360+lbft from thr stock DMF and overf 350lbft on a stock  6 speed ARL clutch.   (on my 150hp 1.8T Golf is was hitting over 370lbft with nos on the stock clutch and DMF)


For all of our 130pd/150pd stage1 torque outputs an good healthy clutch will be fine with the torque they kick out, stage2 or hybrid setups then an uprated cover plate maybe needed.

ah right ...been told wrong info then ...ow well lol
well the clutch is not slipping ...its just the dual mass that is at fault ....loads of play in it (transmission vibration under load)...so going down the single mass route now so wont have this issue again ...plus the kit im getting can handle upto 375 foot pounds torque ...
The dealer price for complete clutch kit was around £650 ....sach uprated clutch with standard dmf was around £800 ...other single mass kits around the same price but thought would go for the southbend silent kit ..£1000 ...should handle the torque without any issues .....prob could just fit new dmf but how long would it last ...think false economy ...rather pay one large payment than have to keep buying new clutches every year or so or however long it takes to slip it lol
Trying to take it easy at the mo .....which is hard when i now how well the car goes after the remap ....so much nicer to drive ...feels like a new car ...well it did for 1 day !! lol

Also the clutch in it has done around 70,000 miles and dmf arounf 80,000 so prob due for change ....i remember when i changed the clutch 10,000 miles after dmf was fitted the dmf had play then ...moe than 15mm but not as much as it has now so think something was not right then ...should of changed it again but didnt

Again thanks Nick for sorting the map for me ...well happy with it ... dmf i think has been on way out now for a while but the map has really finished it off ..lol
cannot wait to get kit ...then can put foot down !! lol
