Motocross
« on: 31 March 2012, 14:03 »
So looking to get back into motocross it's been ten years since I've last been on a track, been pottering about on trials bikes since but it's just not the same. So decided I'm going to put myself threw my trailer ticket and get a motocross bike but what I'm not sure...wanting to get a 250 but 2 stroke or 4 stroke? And is there much difference between Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki? Any info would be much appreciated.

why do you need a trailer ticket? under 750kg you dont need one.

ive had my fair few motocross bikes my last one was one of the best though and it was a ktm 2 stroke 250, very quick and i spent a fortune on it!

now sold unfortunately

Yeah sounds like 2 stroke is the cheaper way to go....:/ ktm is the only thing I can find for sale up my neck of the woods as well (north of Scotland) was only going to get my trailer ticket cause id most probably take my mate as well. And since I'm looking for a new job it'd be there just in case it was needed it

Should be able to get a CR250 pretty cheap, but they are highly strung and needs rebuilding pretty often.

If it was me and your budget is enough I would be looking at newer shape husky 4 stroke 250's - pretty bullet proof, good looking and go like stink!

two strokes are a lot more fragile than 4 strokes however if you blow up a 2 stroke they are cheap to rebuild a four stroke isnt i dont like bikes thats why i have a 660 raptor but i have mates with range of bikes cr125's, cr250, yz250, ktm125, crf250, 115pitbike an a kx250 and the kx is by far the fastest but thats probably because is been race tuned

I'm up in Inverness mate  that quad looks an absolute machine!

Yeah defo think I'll be going two stroke now wouldn't be able to afford to fix a four stroke if it went bang! Now just the case of finding one now
