« on: 31 March 2012, 13:54 »
hi im currently writing my cv and need help with the personal statement.

I have the copy of dh really helpful guide :afro: bu just stuck on the opening satement lol

The problem is that i have only really worked in retail so havent gained that many skills. Therefore im not sure what i should write or the best way to write it.

I dont want them to think that im only good for working in retail

what my job role is:
(im part of the backroom/operations team for one of the "big" retail companies, so i deal with unloading the lorries, keeping store up to a high standard, shopping bags, equipment, trollies, fixing tills, deliveries, compared to stacking shelves and being a sales assistant.

Sorry if i havent worded it great trying to focus on other things lol, any help as always really appreciated :D

Hi.

It would help if you said what sort of job you are applying for or what sector?

Personally I would look at the bigger picture i.e. Team working. Ability to work on own initiative. Ability to work under pressure. Attention to detail. Stock management. Do you manage  anyone else? Have you trained anyone? Quick learner? Willing to take on new tasks? Problem solving?

Also look at all aspects of your life, not just work related i.e. hobbies etc.

Hope this helps a bit.

And another thing. Maximum of 2 pages long. Any longer and they'll get bored and probably bin it.
