Turbo shaft play?
« on: 30 March 2012, 20:57 »
Hi all was just curious really  is there supposed to be any play in the shaft of a turbo, side to side up down etc what so ever even a tiny amount of movement? Or are they supposed to be rigid as hell?
Cheers

Depends on what turbo the k03/s have alittle side to side play as the blades spin on oil so thats normal but you dont want any play the other way.

Your brand new one, is it installed yet? Because if not there will be shaft play, both a little side to side and front and back, until you've had pressurised oil in the turbo there will be Play. Once it's been run then it should be pretty rigid. Your mates turbo will be rigid as all play has been taken with oil pressure.
