Swift Cover sly tactics?!
« on: 29 March 2012, 22:01 »
My insurance is due for renewal, and I looked at the quote from my current insurance company (SwiftCover.com) and I noticed that the new quote only had me as having 5years no claims, when it is in actual fact 6years!! I had a closer look and they stated that I had had a claim! I looked at the claim, and it was when the AA filled in a crack in my windscreen last November. Because of this so called 'claim' I have been deducted a years no claims?!?!? Obviously the AA man filled the chip, and took my insurance details, n I didn't have to contact them (because you don't need to). If I had known I was gonna lose the years no claims, I wouldn't have bothered having it filled, as the size was smaller than a £1 coin, and the crack had not increased in size in the 10 months I had owned the car!!

What annoys me the most, Is that not only have I lost a years no claims bonus, but the workmanship was sh!te!! Gavin from AutoGlass would have done a better job! :undecided:

Where do I stand with this?

It doesn't sound right to me but consult your policy booklet and refer to the glass claim wording, it can depend on what the claim was for, eg if accidental damage then no it should not effect you but if for example vandalism, it may.

The good news is that most insurers recognise 'maximum' discount for NCB at 5 years so the difference between 5 and 6 years NCB will not make any difference.

Of course, you can always shop around.

Swiftcover did this to me too. I had 8 years. I got on the phone and their explanation was that 5 years was the maximum they discount to.

Get on the phone and request a formal proof of no claims letter from them and it should come back with your full allotment. This worked fine for me.

They were cheap but I will not use them again - the web only thing gave me a nagging uneasiness about having to get hold of them if the worst happened. Having to type an email at the side of the road to log a claim and book a transporter just didn't feel right...

I thought that glass repair claims did not affect your NCB, if they do you might as well have a new screen.

They will / should not affect your NCB however they do count as a claim so can affect your renewal quote

Swift cover are a joke.

When I first started driving I was on mums insurance, mum and dad phoned up to ask if I would be able to gain no claims, they said yes that's fine

Few years later I went to start my own insurance said I had 3 years no claims they turn around and say u haven't got any, we only give u it if u stuck with us

wtf y didn't u say that it the beginning

So because of them I had to pay like an extra £200 wasn't happy.
