wheel chips and paint fade
« on: 28 March 2012, 10:33 »
hey guys

Not noticed this till now but my rear wheels seem to be a little tyred (notice the pun !)
Monza shadows. (2011 DSG 10k miles)

I beleive my dealer switched fronts to back as the ones on the front look like new (and the tyres have a fair bit more tread)

The offside rear has about 4 chips towards the centre of the wheel which have whitened, and the black paint in the wheel bolt recesses has literally worn off.

Whats the best thing to do ? will they replace under warranty and should i do this now ?
i will add there is not one curb mark on any of them.

any advice aprreciated fellas,

Potts, are they chips on the wheel or is it whiteworm? They won't replace them under warranty if they're chips.
As far as the piano black paint on the wheels is concerned, mine are still almost as new after 25 months [admittedly only 8k miles]
I don't know how you've managed to lose the paint; do you clean them with a brillo pad?  You should regularly wash them carefully with car shampoo [Not with spray-on wheel cleaners] and wax them at least once a month.
