Sump Plug size? What is it? Getting different answers...

I'm about to buy a magnetic sump plug to prolong the life of my 140k 1.8T, but some places say its M26x1.5 and some say M14x1.5

Which is it? for a 99 1.8T

100% sure?

It should be M14, cos doesnt the 14 mean its 14mm? It cant be 26mm as the bolt is a 19mm bolt to undo it isn't it?

+1 however i wouldnt like to say im 100% sure, i always get mine from vw, there only a quid or so and dont have to faf around trying to get the right size.

ill check my dealer reciept when i get home tonight mate i brought a new plug when had it serviced the size is on there.. im 99% sure its m14 tho  :smiley:

36mm really? I know some oil filter housings on other models are 36mm but surely not for the sump plug?
