Sheared mount bolt in block......
« on: 27 March 2012, 07:54 »
Driving home the other day with the wife and suddenly the engine started making a terrible screaming noise

Pulled over, jumped out and had a look under the cam belt cover, turns out the bolt that runs through engine mount, inbetween the timing pulleys and into the block has snapped clean off.

Thus causing the engine to jump forwards and force the tensioner pulley into the engine mount, its eaten about 1/4 inch into the alloy.

So i've now gotta replace the cambelt and tensioner (AGAIN) (done 5K ago) and Im going to replae the mount also.

But first I need to get this broken bolt end out of my block....trouble is its 1/2 inch deep in the block

A friend of mine had the same issue a few weeks back, they ended up with the engine out to get the remains of the bolt out.
