Turbo flutter / chatter
« on: 26 March 2012, 12:30 »
Hi

Just a quick question, I've recently fitted a new recirculating DV and it seems fine. I was wondering if I had a blocked hose and the DV was stuck closed - causing the air to go back the wrong way and stall the turbo - would the chatter / flutter noise be obviously loud?

I dont want to ruin the turbo, so if it was making this noise would I hear it during normal driving? Or could it be doing it without me noticing?

Thanks

Have you put it on like for like with the old one ? Eg vac hose facing up..... If you have and you put the engine cover on it will fold the hose creating your noise same thing happened to me

You would hear it stalling if it is, if you have standard air box it may be a little harder to hear but you can still hear it quite clearly. Check the vac hoses as the originals go all brital from the heat and can break easily if you haven't replaced them fitting the new dv

Yeh I've put it on exactly as the old one was, its a direct replacement Forge 007p. Got standard airbox and paper filter.

It's silent at the moment which is the same as the old one, but because the Forge DV is a little bit taller than the original one, I was worried that the Vacumm pipe was stretched over the top a bit too much and blocking it off, if you know what I mean .

Just wanted to know if the turbo was stalling because of a blocked pipe that I would definately hear the noise so I'd get some kind of warning.

I was going to replace the hose with a silicone one but I couldnt get to the clip that holds the other end of the hose at the base!
