The other one that stands out was turning up at my place in a shed GTI at one point, a bit spaced out and explaining that it had to be rebuilt during the night before and although it was running OK it *was* burning equivalent amounts of oil to petrol. 
a truely amazing thing with petrol engines is just what will actualy run tho. that motor was just a load of scrap thrown into a cranck case and orderd to work, thinking about it now it was amazing that it even started let alone survived being thrashed.
had a play with a few rallyes some much better than others but i know what the good ones cost to get them good and keep them good. and my driveing style would not be appreciated by glader unit thats been tweeked enough to make a rallye come alive. i never go over 3000 rpm or half throttel untill the
oil exhaust manifold is warm

got the syncro for 4wd fun, hopefully going to fetch new toy sunday afternoon if can get hold of the kiddy, going with the passat and a frame and a box of bits
