On the inside of your airbox it will have raised rib type sections that can be cut back and filed flat to allow the air to flow as unrestricted as possible through the filter.

MK4 GTi 1.8T, Black magic, stage one Jabba, Forge Split, filter, sportex race pipe, lowered 25mm.

I dont quite see the logic with all the worries about heatsoak on a turbo car. Surely you just want maximum flow possible. The air is going into a red hot turbo anyway. If you want to lower inlet temps get a better fmic?

The seat boys love the huge jetex cone filters and I know prawn on audisport got a MAF reading of 182g/s in comparison to 171g/s with a airbox and panel filter. Using the whole divide by 0.8 I think he reckons he saw about 7bhp gain.

I don't think a dyno even with a big fan simulates the air passing though an engine bay when on the road.

That's just my logic anyway

With you on that logic!!! If getting remap done in summer 25degrees fan no way pushing enough cold air in as if driving at 70mph when cars being revved 7000rpm in same place.  If were the case no one would ever buy induction kit  just smooth airbox with panel filter!!! Have seen it where use 3 massive fans with airducts on one channeled to cooler and other to air intake and other keep coolant temp down.  Only seen that set up once when i to Silverstone with work BMW thing deffo not same set up as when had mine dyno'd this week.

no the air stays on the cold side, it doesn't go through the turbo...

Are these the same for all mk4 engines? If so I'd be interested when you're ready to sell. 2000 W 2.slow.
