Bug Gaurd
« on: 28 May 2005, 19:44 »
Hello folks....

just a quick one...as we are entering the summer months I'm sure you will all be in the same boat as me getting a million bugs splattered on the golf every journey we take. Anyone recommend a decent anti bug product/sneaky tips to get all the little b*ggers innards off the bodywork without removing the paint?? my windscreen was so splattered today i could hardly see where i was going !!

safe driving y'all

yeah need help on this too!!, my mk4 has been killing em bigtime this week, never really noticed em before but this week i think ive been killin em 'en massive' lol,

if it get really bad when i come to wash me car i take an old bath towel (big enough to cover the front of your car), get an empty bucket, put it in it , bopil a kettle a few times so water is mega hot  bung some 'sundrops' detergent in (no salt), then once youve washed the shate of your car (normal road grime i mean), remove the towel from the bucket (wearing gloves unless you have aspestos hands like me) drap this over windscreen/front end etc.... and leave for a few mins, then take it off and have a go with your sponge now, on mine most of the fly guts/legs/wings ect come off easily, then repeat anywhere else, although if water isnt not far off boiling point it dosnt work...

thats my tip, it works and its better than leaving em on...... summer is good.....

but the road kill goes up....

Thanks mate, never heard of the 'towel technique'  before but sounds worth a go !!! reckon i could feed most of the uk's bird population with the amount of bug bodies splattered across the poor golf this week.....many thanks for the tip, will give it a shot !!

Autoglym have just brought some new stuff out that you can spray on your car and the bugs simply wipe off. I've not tried it, I just saw an advert for it in classic car mart this month.
......now officially dubless.

similar to dubfathers technique.

my dad bought a karcher steam cleaner and i use that, its basically a kettle with a hose, spray a few times and the bugs just fall to pieces.
