Mk6 Wheels - I fancy darker wheels
« on: 22 March 2012, 10:47 »
Hi
I have a 3 door candy white Mk6 GTI with standard Monza alloys (not shadows). To save replacing the existing alloys and tyres
I wondering if anyone has had, or come across, getting these re-finished in a gun-metal grey or matt black (or shadowed) and what they may look like is it possible/practical?
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.
Cheers

Cheers Maw.
They look good on the car, IMO. Did you get them re-finished yourself?
Certainly has helped me with seeing how they would look.
Let me know if they are still available, please.

Thanks

The wheels are original Mk5 18" Monza's which were professionally re-finished in satin black.

I'm just back from holiday today so I'm going to chase up the guy who is supposedly buying them from me to make sure he is still interested.

If he drops out I will pm you.

My car has the 17 inch wheels refinished in Satin Black. Check out my sig

I've now had them recoated in Satin Anthracite, which I prefer, but no pics unfortunately.

I had the ones on my Mark 5 GTi done by Lepsons... was around £380 for the full set... they look good...
Mk 5 GTi, Tornado Red, Leather, Xenons, 18" Monza II's, Sunroof, 6CD in Armrest, Winter pack & Tinted Windows... soon to be adding ED30 front spoiler, plus R32 sideskirts... then getting fully colour coded!
New engine fitted when car was at 27k... last one went "noisey".

Just to add, my wheels were properly powder-coated for £60 a wheel. The finish is fantastic and I'll definitely be using the place again if I decide to change colour.

I used "The Wheel Specialist" in East Kilbride, but there's a few of them around the country.

Same colour as these?

In my mind, it suits the red soooo well.
