Slow ignition in mornings.
« on: 22 March 2012, 08:35 »
Thought i'd share my experiences, might help some of you??

Anyway, last few months car when starting the car, it would sometimes take a few secs to start, hard to explain but it didnt sound like it wanted to, but does. Usually only after left for good few hours/day it happens, cause subsequent starts when car warm its OK.  After speaking to VW they said my car had coil packs done, sparks changed, have to bring it in for diagnosis. I had service and they said battery was nearly dead, subsequently changed to new battery and start perfect now, obvious test is to try it in a couple of days to see if that has fixed it, but def starts much better sounding with the new battery.. fingers crossed.

Thanks for that info.  Mine sometimes either starts on 'the button' or takes a sec or too longer - like it struggles?

I got Bosch S5, went with one that had at least same ratings as old one, think it was 77Ah, got it from eurocarparts, about £80. Same one halfords recommend but not as expensive.

Thanks - I noticed that a battery had leaked in my car, wasn't sure if it was current or former battery though. Cleaned the whole area yesterday so if I see any more leakage then it's time to change.
