Speedo issue -- mk2 with a mk3 'box.
« on: 21 March 2012, 22:33 »
Now then chaps,

I recently had the box go pop on my Mk2 GTi. The replacement box (that is now in, and feeling sweet) is actually out of mk3.
Obviously the electronic speedo wasn't going to work, so the electronic gubbins has been whipped off the box and the standard cable has be put into the speedo drive (just like you would normally) however, the speedo is not working.

Is there something simple that's been missed, or do I need a different cable?

Cheers, Dave.

020 or 02A?

Cable change, or rod-change?

If it's a rod-change £10 says the plastic drive on the end of the cable has fallen off in the old box.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

As above. I probably had 3 or 4 speedo gears drop in my old gearbox. Never bothered trying to retrieve them out though.
