Recommend me an all in one printer for under £80
« on: 20 March 2012, 12:17 »
As title. Looking for the best printer with scanner for under £80.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brother-DCP-J315W-Multi-function-Wireless-Printer-NEW-/180720332040?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_Printers_Printers_JN&hash=item2a13c56d08#ht_2228wt_992

This one looks good, but it looks like it's expensive to replace all the cartridges (4).

Must be relatively cheap to replace the ink. Would be nice if it was wireless and if it had storage card/stick adapter too.

We use this one:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-KODAK-ESP-C310-WIRELESS-PRINTER-COPIER-SCANNER-BLACK-/251007979876?pt=UK_CamerasPhoto_Printers_Printers_JN&hash=item3a713dd164

Ink is £18 for black and colour multipack. Going to invest in a laser one as we're going through ink like there's no tomorrow.

I have the HP Photosmart B111040257430825720957 something or the other. Quite  good, does what it says on the tin. Seems to go through alot of ink though. Cheap refils dont seem to last that long either.... probably where they make their money back.

I've got that printer, it really works rather well.  Does everything you would want.  Prints, scans and copies.

That one looks good Jon. I'm thinking another wireless ones they have there. Not too expensive and its much more comfortable especially as she's got a netbook.

Hello!!! (I used to be a printer specialist in IT distribution)

Anything cheap is going to be costly on cartridges and not get you many yields.

If i was you I'd be looking at something like the Epson SX435W or 445W. You "should" be able to utilise Airprint too on them by getting the Epson APP if you're smart phoned up. All individual Inks so fairly costly to replace, BUT really good photo quality.

Specs here - http://www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-All-In-Ones/Inkjet/Epson-Stylus-SX445W

Epson also do a quarterly promo called breadth which is where they drop the price on a select few products for a quarter. These are both on there - believe normal cost of the SX445W is pushing £100, but should be about £60 at the moment

This printer also benefits from their flights promo - you buy a machine and claim a free return flight within europe (you pay the taxes) Buy a set of inks for it and get another free return flight for the missus - details here http://www.epson.co.uk/Explore-Epson/1228076002936

J315W is ok - but it is the entry level machine by brother  so won't be as specced as the Epson.

Hope this helps!

Before you invest in laser i would have a look at these - http://www.epson.co.uk/businessinkjet

They are still inkjet - but they are business inkjet. You can get inks with the same capacity as the toners for a lot less. Plus no need to replace drums and fusers too which are extra costs.

Getting a cheap laser is a false economy so you will only benefit from better cost per page by investing in a more expensive laser, which does more prints per page. At that level you are looking at £400+ machines and still £120+ per toner, waster toner bottles, fusers and drums.

I got heads up that the black workforce pro's (the wireless ones) should be going on breadth in the near future so price should drop on them.
